The return from La Rosière begins with the descent from the upper Tarentaise near the Italian border, following panoramic mountain roads back to Bourg-Saint-Maurice. From there, the N90 heads west through Moûtiers and Albertville before the route continues alongside Lake Annecy and north towards Geneva. The border crossing is normally quick outside peak periods.
On Saturday mornings, the N90 between Bourg-Saint-Maurice and Moûtiers sees sustained outbound traffic from the upper Tarentaise. The Lake Annecy section can also slow on busy weekends before the final motorway approach to Geneva.
La Rosière sits at 1850 m above Bourg-Saint-Maurice, reached by a long, winding road that climbs steadily from the valley floor — your driver knows it well and does it throughout the season. The resort spreads across several connected sectors; Les Eucherts is the most developed and central, where most accommodation, the tourist office and the ice rink are. Confirm your exact address and sector when you book. The resort is popular and busy on changeover days — Saturday arrivals in peak weeks take longer than the distance from Bourg suggests, so build in some buffer if you have a strict check-in time.
