After pickup at Grenoble Alpes–Isère Airport, the transfer heads north-east towards the Alpine motorway network and continues in the direction of Chambéry and Albertville. Despite its name, the airport is located well outside Grenoble itself, in a more rural area between Lyon and the Alps. The airport mainly operates winter charter flights serving ski resorts across Savoie and Haute-Savoie. After Albertville, the route joins the N90 through the Tarentaise Valley towards ski-resorts. The valley gradually narrows approaching Bourg-Saint-Maurice and the upper mountain roads. Beyond Bourg-Saint-Maurice, the road climbs steadily towards La Rosière near the Italian border. The final ascent is more open and panoramic than many Tarentaise routes, with views across the upper valley and surrounding peaks as the road approaches the resort.
