The return from Flaine begins with the descent from the high-altitude limestone bowl through smaller villages linked to the Grand Massif area. After reaching Cluses, the route joins the A40 motorway through the Arve Valley towards Geneva. The drive combines forested mountain sections with faster motorway stretches as the route heads north.

Saturday outbound traffic is usually concentrated near Cluses and on the access road below Flaine. The A40 towards Geneva can carry heavy traffic during peak winter weekends.

Flaine is fully pedestrianised — no vehicles enter the resort itself. Your driver drops you at the unloading area in front of your accommodation. Flaine is divided into four levels: Forum is the main centre; Forêt sits slightly higher with quieter accommodation; Front de Neige is lower down with direct slope access; Les Gérats is the most remote level, reached by free shuttle. Confirm which level and your residence name when you book.

We factor all of this in when we schedule your transfer to Geneva Airport: terminal operating hours, check-in deadlines, and expected traffic on your route. In peak ski season, we often recommend departing 2–3 hours earlier than you might expect. Mountain traffic on busy Saturdays can add significant time to the journey. You may end up waiting longer at the airport — but that's a much better outcome than missing your flight. You can set your own preferred departure time, but we'll always flag if we think it carries a risk.
