Leaving Tignes, the road descends through exposed mountain terrain past reservoirs and rocky slopes towards Bourg-Saint-Maurice. From there, the N90 heads west through the Tarentaise corridor past Moûtiers and Albertville before the route continues alongside Lake Annecy and north towards Geneva. Depending on traffic, the driver may choose the quieter side of the lake near Annecy.

On Saturday mornings, the N90 between Bourg-Saint-Maurice and Moûtiers carries heavy outbound traffic from the upper Tarentaise resorts. The upper road from Tignes can also slow during snowfall before reaching the valley floor.

Your driver meets you at your accommodation — hotel entrance or chalet door. Just confirm which part of Tignes you're staying in when you book. Tignes runs across different altitudes, and the name alone isn't enough to find you. Le Lac and Val Claret are the two main hubs — most hotels and apartments are split between these two. If you're in one of the smaller villages — Les Brévières at the bottom of the valley or Les Boisses on the way up — mention it at booking.

In peak ski season, we often recommend departing 2–3 hours earlier than you might expect. Mountain traffic on busy Saturdays can add significant time to the journey. You may end up waiting longer at the airport — but that's a much better outcome than missing your flight.
