From Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport, the route heads east on the A43 motorway through the foothills of the Alps towards Chambéry. After passing the lakes and mountain ridges surrounding the Chambéry basin, the transfer continues through Albertville before following the N90 into the Tarentaise Valley. Traffic conditions around Chambéry can vary significantly during winter weekends, and drivers sometimes divert via Grenoble during major congestion periods. For Les Arcs, the route continues to Bourg-Saint-Maurice before climbing towards the different Arc villages. The ascent becomes progressively steeper and more mountainous, especially above Arc 1600, with broad views across the Tarentaise Valley and surrounding ski areas.
