Leaving Courchevel, the road descends through lower villages and forested slopes to Moûtiers before joining the N90 west towards Albertville. From there, the A43 motorway heads north-west towards Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport.

Saturday departures from the Three Valleys can bring heavy outbound traffic on the roads down to Moûtiers. The motorway sections between Chambéry and Lyon can also slow during peak winter weekends.

Courchevel is not one village but five, spread across the same valley at different altitudes: Le Praz (1300), La Tania (1400), Courchevel Village (1550), Moriond (1650), and Courchevel 1850 at the top. There is one road connecting them all — your driver knows it well, in all conditions. If you're staying in a chalet, share the access instructions with us. Chalets in Courchevel — especially in 1850 and Moriond — often have similar or identical names, and standard navigation can lead to the wrong door. If your chalet manager has given you a specific access note or coordinates, send them our way and we'll arrive exactly where we need to.

In peak ski season, the route from the mountains to Lyon can be significantly slower than the map suggests. We often recommend departing earlier than feels necessary — you may spend extra time at the airport, but that's preferable to a stressful race to check-in.
