Past Bourg-Saint-Maurice, the road climbs through the upper Tarentaise towards Tignes. The final approach becomes noticeably higher and more rugged, with reservoirs, exposed mountain slopes, and long winding sections typical of this route.

Winter traffic is often heaviest on the N90 between Bourg-Saint-Maurice and Moûtiers and along the final road to Tignes, particularly during snowfall or Saturday arrivals.

Les Boisses sits between Les Brévières and Le Lac — small, quiet, rarely the first choice but a legitimate base. No access restrictions anywhere in Tignes.
