Compared with starting from the airport, the departure from central Geneva adds a short urban section before reaching the motorway.
The final ascent towards Avoriaz climbs steeply above Morzine on a winding mountain road with sharp bends and open valley views. As Avoriaz is a pedestrian resort, drop-offs are made at the designated arrival area near the resort entrance.
Under normal conditions, the journey takes around 1 h 45 min, depending on traffic and weather. During winter weekends and peak ski season, travel times may increase. Winter traffic is most common near Cluses and on the Morzine–Avoriaz ascent during Saturdays and snowfall periods.
Cornavin is a busy city-centre station with no long-term stopping zones at the main entrance — so pickup works slightly differently here than at the airport.
