The transfer from Geneva airport (GVA) to Valmorel is a direct and comfortable journey into the Alps. After leaving the airport, your driver will take the most efficient route towards the resort, ensuring a smooth and stress-free journey.
Leaving Geneva Airport, the transfer to Valmorel quickly connects with the French motorway network leading towards Annecy. The border crossing is normally straightforward, although winter weekends can occasionally bring additional checks or queues. Around Lake Annecy, the route mixes faster road sections with scenic stretches close to the shoreline, particularly near Talloires and Doussard. Further ahead, the landscape becomes more mountainous through Ugine and Albertville before the turning into the quieter side valleys above La Léchère. Compared with the larger Tarentaise resorts, the final approach feels more local and less busy, with winding roads passing small villages, forested slopes, and open viewpoints across the valley. Valmorel itself is known for its pedestrian centre and traditional chalet-style architecture.
Under normal conditions, the journey takes around 2 h 15 min, depending on traffic and weather. During winter weekends and peak ski season, travel times may increase. In winter, traffic delays mainly affect the motorway approach to Albertville and parts of the Tarentaise Valley on Saturdays. The road up to Valmorel is generally calmer, although snow conditions can slow the final climb.
Your driver will be waiting in the arrivals hall (Terminal 1) holding a sign with your name.
Important: Even if you arrive on a domestic flight from within France (Paris, Nice, etc.), always exit through the Swiss Sector (International side) — this is where our drivers wait for you. Exiting into the French sector by mistake means an extra 15-minute walk back through the terminal.
Baggage carousels and passport control at GVA can be slow. That's why we include up to 90 minutes of free waiting time from the moment your flight lands. If delays run longer, your driver will still be there — a standard hourly waiting fee may apply.
Geneva Airport offers excellent free Wi-Fi. Connect as soon as you land to stay in touch with your driver via WhatsApp or the contact details in your booking voucher.

Valmorel was built in the 1970s, which in French ski resort terms usually means tower blocks and stark concrete. Not here. The people behind Valmorel made a deliberate choice to build in traditional Savoyard style — stone facades, wooden cladding, lauze slate roofs, pedestrian streets — and the result is a resort that doesn't look like what it is. It's purpose-built, but it feels lived-in. The village sits at 1400 m in the Tarentaise, reached by a 12 km climb from the Isère valley. Part of the Grand Domaine ski area with Saint-François-Longchamp — 165 km of slopes crossing the Col de la Madeleine, from forests at the bottom to open alpine terrain at the top. The skiing suits intermediates well, with long cruising runs and a natural flow back to the village. Your driver brings you as close to your accommodation as the pedestrian zone allows.
