Geneva airport (GVA) to Flaine: route overview
After pickup at Geneva Airport, the transfer heads into France and joins the A40 motorway towards Cluses and the upper Arve Valley. Weekday evening traffic may occasionally slow the first section around Geneva, although most border crossings remain straightforward outside peak periods. The route gradually leaves the lower valleys behind as the surrounding terrain becomes steeper approaching Cluses. Beyond Cluses, the road climbs through forested mountain sections towards Flaine. The final ascent passes several smaller villages linked to the Grand Massif ski area before reaching Flaine’s higher-altitude bowl surrounded by limestone cliffs.
Flaine is car-free at 1600 m in its own closed valley above Cluses. The road ends at the car park at the village entrance — your driver brings you there and luggage is handled from that point. The resort has four levels: Forum, Forêt, Front de Neige and Les Gérats. Confirm your exact residence when you book as each level has a different drop-off point.
