Geneva airport (GVA) to Avoriaz: route overview
After leaving Geneva Airport, the route crosses into France within the first few minutes of the journey. Border checks are usually limited, although controls may occasionally appear during busy winter weekends. The transfer then follows the A40 motorway towards Cluses through the Arve Valley, with views of the surrounding Alpine peaks becoming more pronounced beyond Bonneville and Taninges. The final ascent towards Avoriaz climbs above Morzine on a steep mountain road with a series of sharp bends and open valley views. As Avoriaz is a pedestrian resort, drop-offs are normally made at the designated arrival area near the entrance to the resort.
Avoriaz is fully car-free at 1800 m. The road ends at the car park below the village — your driver brings you to the unloading dock at the village entrance, from where a sled or electric vehicle service takes luggage to your accommodation. Confirm your residence name when you book, as the unloading point varies depending on where you're staying.
